Pen and Wash Workshop

In this workshop Ben will help participants learn how to master combining the precision of pen drawing with the fluidity and looseness of coloured washes – creating lively and immediate snippets of the world around us.

In the morning we will master techniques through demonstrations and practical exercises – then after lunch we will venture outside in the local neighbourhood to capture the landscape, people and a whole lot more.

Join Ben in this fun yet thorough workshop to gain skills which will enable you to work in this immediate, fresh and rewarding medium.

MATERIALS LIST

  • Quality A4 sketchbook – must be able to take watercolour 200gsm and hot press  paper (Milini/Hanmuller ect)
  • Waterproof drawing pens (Copic multiliner/unipin fineline/Artline ect. size.02, 0.3)
  • 2B pencil
  • Kneadable eraser
  • Tissues or papertowel
  • I x round watercolour brush – approx size 8/10 large 1 1/5  inch brush (Neef taklon/sable ect)
  • Watercolours – Ultramarine Blue, Cerulean Blue, Cobalt Turquoise, Cadmium Yellow, Raw Sienna, Burnt Sienna, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Winsor Violet, Raw Umber, Neutral Tint
  • White (Gouache)
  • Lunch/hat/drinkbottle ect/ Easel if preferred/anything else you think you may need. 

Morning and afternoon tea provided BYO Lunch
